Carbon - Disulphide

Carbon disulphide is a colorless volatile liquid with the formula CS2. The compound is used frequently as a building block in organic chemistry as well as an industrial and chemical non-polar solvent.

Carbon disulphide is a natural product of anaerobic bio degradation. It is also synthesized via the catalyzed reaction between sulfur and methane at 600 °C.

Carbon Disulfide is a raw material for a large variety of chemical products. It is used in a variety of applications, including the production of regenerated cellulose (rayon and cellophane) and the manufacture of organic sulfur compounds including agricultural, pharmaceutical and rubber chemicals.
