NAFED raises onion export price by $50 a tonne - The Financial Express: "NAFED, the main government agency exporting onion, has hiked the export price of the commodity by 50 dollars per tonne to discourage its overseas sale and augment domestic supply.
With increasing demand, in the wake up of festival season, onion prices have been hitting the roof. The wholesale prices of onion today soared to Rs 2,125-2,375 a quintal in Delhi, against Rs 1,450 a quintal last week.
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) is selling it at Rs 22-23 a kg through its retail outlets in the national capital."
